M39: Drop/Shoot

Purpose: To demonstrate that vertical acceleration is independent of horizontal motion.

Description:

A spring actuated gun aimed horizontally with an accessory hanging a ball in front of the barrel in addition to a ball loaded in the barrel.
When the gun fires one ball horizontally it drops another one straight down vertically. Both balls will land at the same time.

If you so choose data can be taken to further analyze the results with use of a photogate and time of flight pad.

Equipment List: Storage Location: CHEMP 130A
