Lutron Lighting Controller

The Lutron lighting controller in CHEMP 130 controlls the lighting configuration of the sixteen lighting zones in the room. The system has four preset lighting configurations that can be selected at two location in the room. The preset configures have been set meet the needs of most lecture light situations. Below is a list of the preset configuations and the type of lecture situation for which they were designed.

  1. (Top button) Full intensity on all sixteen lighting zones. This is the setting to be used when students are entering and exiting the room. It is also valuable for any setting that requires full lighting. There is a five second delay between pressing this button and the switch to the new setting.
  2. (Second button from the top) This setting gives full lighting in the students seating area for student note taking, there is lighting on the white boards but the lights are dimmed on the video projection areas. There are flood light on the lecture tables. This lighting setting is designed for use in lecture settings that use the video projectors and require the students to be able to take notes. There is a five second delay between pressing this button and the switch to the new setting.
  3. (Third button from the top) This setting is the same as #2 except that the lights on the whiteboard areas are off. This allows for projection onto the pull down projection screen. Some faculty use the pull down projection screen to project a traditional overhead transparency projector. There is a five second delay between pressing this button and the switch to the new setting.
  4. (Fourth button from the top) This setting is the same as #2 except that the light on the whiteboard areas and the flood lights on the lecture tables are off. There is a five second delay between pressing this button and the switch to the new setting.
  5. (Bottom button) Turns the entire lighting system off. There is a five second delay between pressing this button and when the lights go off.

The Lutron lighting controller can also custom set the lighting on any of the sixteen lighting zones. This can be done at the main control panel shown below. Custom setting are not saved and will be lost when a preset configuration is selected.
