Physics 2306 Laboratory Equipment List

Lab 6: DC Circuits 1

Transition notes:

  1. Leave out all the banana plugs from Lab 4, and only one red one will need to be added. Put the rest of the materials from Lab 4 away.

Equipment List:

  1. 850 Interface with:
    • 2 x Current Sensors (Analog A and B) plugged in with:
      • 8 pin extension cable
    • Voltage Sensor (Analog C)
  2. Circuit Board with the following on it:
    • 1 x D cell Battery
    • 3 x 2.25V light bulb (#222)
  3. Spring Switch (AKA telegraph Switch)
  4. 5 x 10cm Jumper Wire
  5. 5 x 25cm Jumper Wire
  6. Lab 5 Component bag:
    • 5 x 33 Ohm Resistor
  7. Cables:
    • 3 x Red Alligator Cord (2 plugged into Current Sensors)
    • 3 x Black Alligator Cord (2 plugged into Current Sensors)
    • 4 x Red Alligator Clip (all but 1 attached to banana plugs)
    • 4 x Black Alligator Clip (all but 1 attached to banana plugs)

Notes and tests:

  1. Put only one “D” cell that tests at 80% or higher in the battery holder for this lab. It will need to be replaced for the next lab. The cell must be fresh. We should not store cells in holder so we don’t confuse old cells with new.
  2. Check that the correct number of jumper wires and components are in all of the bags. Spare bulbs and resistors should be on the Spares cart.
  3. Test the voltage sensor and current sensors with the test file "2306 Lab5 test.cap" by setting up a simple circuit with the battery and a bulb.
  4. Current sensors that look burnt have been refurbished on the inside, don't worry about it.

Additional Images below:

The sensors plugged in and wrapped up so that they are not a tangled mess.

The sensors plugged in and tidied as they should be.

The resistors and the bag in which they are stored lying on a table. Multiple styles of the same resistor are shown.
