The Physics Department maintains two instructional observatories. The Price's Fork Observatory has a Celestron 14-inch Schmidt-Cassesgrain telescope. Qualified students may gain access to the Price's Fork Observatory through the Astronomy Club

The Martin Observatory, at the Miles C. Horton Sr. Center (a facility of the Mary Moody Northen Endowment and Virginia Tech), has a 14-inch Telescope equipped with a large-format CCD camera, for use in PHYS 3154 Observational Astrophysics

For more information on research, see the Virginia Tech Astrophysics web page

Developed by Virginia Tech physics professor, Dr. John Simonetti, SIP is a Java-based educational tool that allows students to do image analysis.
