The goal of the our group is to produce DLC coated quartz guide tubes with a low depolarization rate for the polarized UCN.  The guides also need to be smooth in the 10-1000 nanometer range.  We are designing a system similar to the diagram above to coat the inside of the tubes.  We are also studying ways to remove impurities from the surface of the tubing and change its roughness.
