A pulsed excimer laser operating at 248 nanometers is focused into a vacuum chamber and onto a pyrolitic graphite target to make our films. The non-standard part of our setup is the ability to deposit inside tubing. The picture to the left shows our tubing deposition setup without a central chamber and pump. The glass tube is translated past the graphite target and slowly coated with DLC on the inside. Our current chamber will coat foot long sections of guide; we plan to make meter long sections for the experiment. |
