Physics 2215 Laboratory Equipment List

Lab 5: Forces

Track elevated with force probe attached.  Henry included

Equipment List:

  1. LabPro Interface with:
    • Force Sensor (Vernier) with a Force probe hook attached.
    • The Force Sensor should be attached to the end stop using a Screw, Thumb - Force Probe Mounting inserted through the hole.
  2. 2.2 Meter Cart Track with:
    • Two Track Feet Brackets with two Track Feet in each.
    • Two Endstops. (one for either end) attached with a Screw, Track End Stop
    • Attached to the table with
      • Elevation Clamp
      • Rod - 90cm
      • Universal Clamp - Medium
  3. Vernier Dynamics Cart with:
    • One 500g Cart Mass attached with:
      • Screw, Thumb-Verneir Cart Mounting Short
      • Wing Nut
    • Hanging from a 0.75m string
  4. 1 meter stick
  5. Angle Meter (not to be confused with a track angle indicator).

General class use:

  1. Loading...

Transition notes (Summer Only):

  1. Leave out: the tracks with feet and end stop attached and carts with 500g mass attached.
  2. Take away the: string, pulley on bracket, mass set, mass hanger, motion detector and cord and wood block.
  3. Sweepy sweepy
  4. Put out force sensor, spring scale, 45cm rod, track rod clamp, small table clamp, ruler, rubber bands, and another cart mass to attach with mounting hardware.

Notes and tests:

  1. Start the Logger Pro file "Lab 5a.xmbl" in the Lab 5 folder of Class Notes. Click "Collect" push and pull the force sensor hook and see if the force is displayed on the graph.
